Today’s photo of the week is the staff profile picture of our Royal Observatory Curator, Louise Devoy, created with a little 1920s inspiration.

The Royal Observatory Greenwich is regularly used as a setting for staff members profile photos, with many having their photo taken in the Great Equatorial Dome. Louise Devoy, Curator of Royal Observatory Greenwich, decided to have a different background for her profile photograph.

Inspired by Queen Mary’s visit to the Royal Observatory in the 1920s, we recreated the photograph with Louise.

Any visitor to the observatory knows that the balcony is not very spacious and we were all cramped together quite closely. Its great having the iconic buildings of the Royal Observatory in the background.
